E-invoicing final legislation publication

Only last month, Kofax communicated that Romania was making rapid progress with its upcoming e-invoicing legislation, with the draft legislation pointing to e-reporting obligations from 1 January 2024, followed by e-invoicing obligations in July 2024. You can read more details concerning Romania’s e-invoicing plans in our previous post here.

In a prompt progression of events, the draft e-invoicing law has now been signed into law, which confirms Romania’s e-invoicing trajectory, via Official Gazette no. 977. The law confirms the timelines outlined in Kofax’s previous post. From 1 July 2024, only invoices that pass through the RO e-Factura will be considered legal, registered invoices.

Romania is a compliant e-invoicing territory for Kofax, and we are analysing the final e-invoicing legislation. Kofax intends to support e-invoicing obligations in Romania, specifically inbound Accounts Payable (AP) services, which concerns invoice retrieval from the RO e-Factura.

Kofax is developing a firm e-invoicing strategy in Romania.
