Notice: Install for Ascent Capture 7.0 on Workstations with Hardware VRS 1.0x Scanners

(Using the Ascent Capture 7.0 (English/German) Program with the "/NoVRS Option" )

Kofax Image Products is now happy to announce, for a limited time, continued Ascent Capture 7.0 support for the following Legacy Hardware VRS 1.0x scanners.

In order to be able to use these VRS 1.0x scanners with Ascent Capture 7.0 (English/German), the Ascent Capture 7.0 program with the '/NoVRS Option' must be downloaded and installed following the instructions found in the Downloading and Installing the Ascent Capture 7.0 Program with the ‘/NoVRS Option’ (for workstations with Hardware VRS 1.0 scanners) document. This new version of Ascent Capture 7.0 is designed to allow the installation of Ascent Capture 7.0 without VRS 4.0, therefore allowing the use of a previously installed Legacy Hardware VRS 1.0x scanner.

The Ascent Capture 7.0 (English/German) program with the ‘/NoVRS option’ is a full copy of the Ascent Capture 7.0 program. It is exactly the same as the Ascent Capture 7.0 CD that is included in the Ascent Capture 7.0 shipping box, with the one exception noted above. If this Ascent Capture 7.0 program with the ‘/NoVRS option’ is installed without the /NoVRS option, it will install the VRS 4.0 program, just as if the program were installed from the Ascent Capture 7.0 CD.

Note: Any previous installation of the original Ascent Capture 7.0 product on a workstation with a VRS 1.0x scanner must be completely removed prior to installing the new Ascent Capture 7.0/HVRS program.

Ascent Capture 7.0 CD Installation
(No support for Legacy Hardware VRS 1.0x Scanners)

The Ascent Capture 7.0 CD installation installs the VRS 4.0 program, which does not support any Legacy Hardware VRS 1.0x scanners. Therefore, Ascent Capture 7.0 users who install from a Kofax Ascent Capture 7.0 CD will not be able to use any of the Legacy Hardware VRS 1.0x scanners.

If you have one of the following Legacy VRS 1.0x scanners attached to a workstation where you intend to install Ascent Capture 7.0, you must download and install the new version of the Ascent Capture 7.0 program following the instructions found in the Downloading and Installing the Ascent Capture 7.0 Program with the ‘/NoVRS Option’ (for workstations with Hardware VRS 1.0 scanners) document.

  • Fujitsu ScanRight 4097 VRS
  • Fujitsu ScanRight 4099D VRS
  • Ricoh IS450 VRS (North America only)

Please note that there are no plans to support these scanners with the VRS 4.0 product.
