Chinese Simplified Service Pack 2 (patch available)

- After
installing Ascent Capture 7.0 SP2 Chinese Simplified
on an ACIS Central Site machine, you must manually
patch the database due to a specific issue resulting
from the behavior of Microsoft's Chinese Operating
System with an ACIS Central Site installation.
During the SP2 install, the database utility was not
successful in patching the database when it tried to
secure an exclusive locking of the database
In order to make the Batch Creation work on an ACIS
Central Site machine, you must manually patch the
database using the steps below.
1. After the SP2 install has complete, stop
the Ascent Capture Service.
2. In
the command line window, run this command
"DBUtil.exe /Patch".
Note: You will not receive a patch
completion confirmation
3. After a few minutes, restart the Ascent
Capture Service.
It is
very important that NO Ascent Capture modules
are launched during the Ascent Capture 7.0 SP2
Chinese Simplified install. For example, if the
Batch Manager is launched during the SP2 install,
the installation process will not be interrupted.
This is due to a fix implemented to enforce an
exclusive locking of the database in order to allow
the ACIS Central Site install. Therefore, do not run
any Ascent Capture modules until after the Ascent
Capture 7.0 SP2 Chinese Simplified install is
complete.
- If you make use of the Ascent Advanced Forms
3.x product, you must release all batches currently in the system
before installing Ascent Capture 7.0 Chinese
Simplified Service Pack 2
- Download the zip file, extract to a folder of your choice, read the "Ascent Capture 7.0 Service Pack 2 Notes" document before running the AscentCapture7_0_SP2_ZH-CN.exe file.

VRS 4.2 upgrade for any Ascent Capture 7.x product which had VRS 4.1 SP2 applied ( details)
- This upgrade is to be use only if VRS 4.2 was installed over an Ascent Capture 7.x installation which had VRS 4.1 Service Pack 2 applied.
The problem this upgrade addresses only occurs after an upgrade from VRS 4.1 SP2 (to VRS 4.2) when installed with Ascent Capture 7.x. Subsequently, this upgrade is only required for installations using VRS 4.1 SP2 and are upgrading to VRS 4.2 and are also running Ascent Capture 7.x.
This upgrade is not required for Ascent Capture 7.x installations that are upgrading from VRS 4.0, 4.1, 4.1 SP1 to VRS 4.2. Installations that are using VRS only (no Ascent Capture installed) do not require this upgrade.
Questions related to this upgrade can be directed to Kofax Technical Services at +1.949.727.1733, Option 2.

ACEncryptionUtility to correct a 6.11 to
7.0/7.5 upgrade failure
- The
ACEncryptionUtility utility will correct an upgrade failure that
generates the error, "Unable to Initialize Batch Catalog Error:
2147749852 [4060] KdoLib: Error creating the database. [Bad Data.]".This
program should be run if an Ascent Capture user is running the
patched version of 6.11 (6.11.038 or greater). This version is using
the new encryption method and until AC 8.0 becomes available, the
ACEncryptionUtility must be run to allow the user to upgrade to
either AC 7.0 or AC 7.5.
The
utility may be used at one of two points in the upgrade process:
- Prior to the upgrade process, or
- After
the user receives the above displayed dialog box when the
upgrade fails.
After running this utility the upgrade from Ascent Capture 6.11 to
7.0 or 7.5 will work correctly.
- Download the zip file, extract to a folder of your choice, read the "ACEncryption Utility Program Operation Instructions.pdf" document prior to running the utility.
