1. What is Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture?
Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture 7.0 consists of the LiveCycle Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture and the LifeCycle Barcoded Forms Authoring Plug-in.
The LiveCycle Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture is a barcoded forms solution that runs as an Ascent Capture custom module. This Adobe customer module is used with Ascent Capture to automate the extraction, decompression, and decoding of 2D barcode data on interactive Adobe PDF forms.
Click here to read more about the the LifeCycle Barcoded Forms Authoring Plug-in.
Go to the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms Web page for more detailed information.
2. What is the LifeCycle Barcoded Forms Authoring Plug-in?
The LifeCycle Barcoded Forms Authoring Plug-in is included on the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture CD. Form authors can use Acrobat Professional, version 17.0.1 or later. If form authors have used Acrobat Professional to author forms that have many custom scripts attached to the form objects, they can save time and effort by adding barcodes to the forms in Acrobat Professional using the authoring plug-in.
3. What other Adobe products can be used with Ascent Capture and the Adobe custom module?
The following additional Adobe products can be used with Ascent Capture and the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture depending upon your organization's barcode solution and infrastructure.
- LiveCycle Designer
- Acrobat Professional
- Acrobat Standard
- Acrobat Reader
For example, you can use LiveCycle Designer or Acrobat Professional to create 2D-barcoded interactive PDF forms and then distribute the forms to your customers through the Web, by email, or by CD. Your customers can use Adobe Reader® 7.0.1 or later or Acrobat 7.0.1 or later to fill and then print the forms. When the forms are returned, your organization can use Ascent Capture with the Adobe custom module to capture the data from the 2D barcodes and deliver that data to a database, business application, or content management system.
4. What version of Ascent Capture is required with the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture product?
The Ascent Capture and the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms's Adobe custom module is certified to work with Ascent Capture 7.0.
5. What kind of rights/permissions/privileges must a computer user have when they install the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms's Adobe custom module?
To install the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms's Adobe custom module, the user must be logged into the PC with administrative privileges.
6. How can the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms's Adobe custom module be uninstalled?
Follow the instructions below to uninstall the LiveCycle Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture's Adobe custom module and remove it from your system.
- Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
- Remove Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture.
7. How can the Adobe custom module be manually registered?
The installation utility should automatically register the Adobe custom module with Ascent Capture. Test the installation by starting the Ascent Capture Administration module and viewing the Custom Module Manager. Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms 7.0 should appear in the list. If the Adobe custom module does not appear, it has not been automatically registered. Follow these instructions to manually register the Adobe custom module.
8. Warning: Do Not Remove Adobe USB Hardware Key While Product is Running?
Stop and close the Adobe custom module before removing the Adobe USB hardware key. If you remove this key while the Adobe custom module is running, batch processing will fail. If you inadvertently remove the key while the product is running, exit the product, reinsert the USB hardware key, restart the product, and then reprocess the batch.
9. Warning: Do Not Cancel the Uninstallation Process of the Product?
When you start to uninstall the Adobe custom module, to avoid errors from occurring, you must allow the entire uninstallation process to finish. If you cancel the process, part of the installed file set may be affected. If you inadvertently cancel the uninstallation process, run it again and allow the entire process to finish.
10. Barcode on Sample Page Appears to be Selected?
In the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms for Ascent Capture Setup dialog box, when you find and select a barcode on a sample page, assign it to an index field, and then move it to a subsequent sample page, the barcode on the subsequent sample page appears to be selected. However, you must click the Find Barcode button to select the barcode and then assign that barcode value to an index field.
11. Batch Sent to the Quality Control Module When License Volume is Exceeded?
For the Adobe Forms Processed license, when the volume is exceeded (volume count goes to zero) before a batch is complete, the Adobe custom module skips the number of documents that exceed the license volume. The Adobe custom module does not complete the processing of the current batch; it sends the batch to the Quality Control module.
12. Wrong Error Message Appears for Certain Batch Class Configurations?
For certain batch class configurations, the following message may mistakenly appear when you try to publish a batch class:
“The batch includes the Adobe® LiveCycle™ Barcoded Forms module, but no form type has been enabled for barcode processing.”
The result of this error is that you cannot publish your batch class or subsequently create any batches.
This error message appears when the following conditions exist:
- When more than one document class exists in the batch class being published
- All form types in at least one of the document classes do not have the “Enable barcode processing” check box selected on the Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms Setup dialog box.
Workaround:
- For at least one form type in every document class, open the Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms Setup dialog box.
- Select the “Enable barcode processing” check box and click OK to save your changes.
- Publish the batch class.
Note You may receive a warning that no barcodes are specified. You can ignore this warning if you have verified that all barcodes you want to process have been located and associated with an Ascent Capture index field.
13. Uninstalling the Rainbow iKey Driver?
To ensure that the Rainbow iKey driver is uninstalled when you uninstall the Adobe custom module, you must exit the product before removing the Adobe USB key. If the USB key is plugged in while you attempt to uninstall the product, the Rainbow iKey driver will not uninstall. If necessary, you can uninstall the Rainbow iKey manually by using the Add/Remove Program option in the Control Panel.box
