Please note: Prior to applying any Service Pack, Fix Pack, or Fix to your Kofax Transformation Modules 5.5 product, please be sure you have installed Kofax Transformation Modules 5.5.0 R2 or later . KTM 5.5.0 initial release installations cannot be upgraded with the current 5.5.1 Service Pack, Fix Packs, or Fixes. 2. What does the Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 product install?

The Kofax Transformation Modules installation program installs and registers several components:

Kofax Transformation - Project Builder	A configuration tool that is used to develop, train, and test Kofax Transformation Modules configurations.
Kofax Transformation - Project Planner (Professional Add-on license only)	A configuration tool that is used to manage document sets and configure trainable document separation.
Kofax Transformation Modules - Synchronization	A setup component that is integrated into the Kofax Capture Administration module as a custom panel. It is used for linking Kofax Capture document classes and index fields to classes and fields in the Kofax Transformation project and is installed with Kofax Transformation Modules - Server.
Kofax Transformation - Knowledge Base Administration	A configuration tool that is used to create and maintain extraction Knowledge Bases.
Kofax Transformation - Service Configuration	A configuration utility that is used to set up and change settings for the Kofax Transformation Modules - Batch Processing Service and the Kofax Transformation Modules - Knowledge Base Learning Service. It is installed with Kofax Transformation Modules - Server.

Modules
Kofax Transformation Modules - Server	A module that automatically separates a batch into documents and then classifies and extracts information from each document. It also groups documents into folders based on common features if foldering is enabled.
Kofax Transformation Modules - Document Review	A user interactive module that is used to review batch structure and ensure that each document contains the correct pages and is correctly classified.
Kofax Transformation Modules - Correction	A user interactive module that is used to review extraction results for individual fields and correct low confidence characters extracted with zonal OCR in a speed optimized environment.

Important Notes for Installing Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5

The following are important notes for installing the Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 product.

• Administrator Rights
  To install Kofax Transformation Modules, the logged-in user must have Administrator rights on the local computer.
• Install Kofax Capture First
  The Kofax Transformation Modules installation installs and registers custom Kofax Capture components only if a certified version of Kofax Capture (formerly Ascent Capture) is detected on the computer. Therefore, to use the custom Kofax Capture components, you must install a certified version of Kofax Capture before you install Kofax Transformation Modules.
• Close Applications
  Before installing Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5, you must close the Kofax Capture Administration module on every workstation.
• Upgrading Kofax Transformation Modules
  If you upgrade from an earlier version of Kofax Transformation Modules (formerly Ascent Xtrata Pro), you need to:
  • Remove the earlier version before installing Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5.
  • Ensure that any batches in the system have been processed, since this version contains major updates to the modules and statistics release script.
  • Remove the earlier version of the statistics release script from the Release Scripts window in the Kofax Capture Administration module, and reconfigure the new statistics release script. For details on how to do this, refer to the Kofax Transformation Modules Configuration Guide.
  • Upgrade any existing projects (recommended). The first time you open an earlier project in Project Builder, a list of “upgrade warnings” indicating how to make your project compatible with Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 is displayed.

  Important Notes for Installing and Uninstalling Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Service Pack 1 and Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Language Packs

  If you are installing Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Service Pack 1 and Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Language Packs you have to install any language pack after the installation of Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Service Pack 1.
  
  If you have Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 or Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Patch 6 (or an earlier patch version) and a Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Language Pack installed that is assigned as a language for the Kofax Transformation Modules, and you are upgrading to Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Service Pack 1 the restart of any module fails after the upgrade. You need to remove and then reinstall any language packs that may have been installed after installing the service pack.
  
  If you are uninstalling Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Service Pack 1 and you have a Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Language Pack installed, the uninstallation of the service pack fails. You have to uninstall any language pack before uninstalling the service pack. After uninstalling the service pack, reinstall the language pack for use with Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 or Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 Patch 6 (or an earlier patched version).

4. Are there any additional setup steps for the Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 product that I need to be aware of?

The Arabic language is supported by the Arabic OCR powered by NovoDynamics® VERUS Pro. This recognition engine requires an additional license and separate hardware key.

Important: The installation for Arabic OCR must be completed before the VERUS hardware key is attached to
the computer.

The additional recognition engine KADMOS® 4.2, developed by re Recognition GmbH, is available as an option
in the standard Kofax Transformation Modules installation package, but must be licensed separately.

By default, Kofax Transformation Modules installs the ABBYY® Finereader® 9.0 and RecoStar® 4.0, developed
by Open Text Document Technologies GmbH, OCR engines. For ABBYY Finereader 9.0 additional less
frequently used languages are available that are installed if you select “Additional Finereader languages.”

5. How do I register Custom Modules or Release Scripts for use with the Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 product?

The Kofax Transformation Modules installation program automatically registers the Kofax Capture modules and the statistics release script with Kofax Capture. If for any reason the custom components need to be registered after installation, you can manually register them in the Kofax Capture Administration module.

Note: An error message is displayed if the installation program fails to register the Kofax Transformation Modules custom components; the unregistered components are not available for use with Kofax Capture. For example, if the Kofax Transformation Modules - Validation module is not registered, it is not available as a queue for a batch class

To register custom modules:

1. From the Administration module menu bar, select Tools | Custom Module Manager to display the Custom Module Manager dialog box
2. Click Add to display the Open dialog box.
3. Select the desired Kofax Transformation Modules registration file from within the selected folder:
• KTM.aex to install Server, Server 2 and/or Knowledge Base Learning Server
• KTMCorrection.aex to install Correction
• KTMDocumentReview.aex to install Document Review
• KTMValidation1.aex to install Validation step 1
• KTMValidationN.aex to install Validation step N
• KTMVerification.aex to install Verification
4. Click Open to display the Custom Modules window.
5. Select the Kofax Transformation Modules component(s) from the list, and click Install.

6. How can I access the online help in the Kofax Transformation Modules 4.5 product?

Kofax Transformation Modules online help is available from the application components as follows:

• From any of the Kofax Transformation Modules components, press F1, click Help from the toolbar, or
  select Contents from the Help menu.
• From any application window, press F1 or click Help to display context-sensitive Help information for the
  window.
• Information about scripting is available from the Help menu of any Project Builder interface that enables you to write or access scripts.
