Kofax Transformation Modules (KTM) 3.5 Product Support Overview

NOTE: Support for the Kofax Transformation Modules 3.5 product ended on 05/21/11. The Kofax Transformation Modules 3.5 Web pages will continue to be available until 05/21/12.

Kofax Transformation Modules 5.5.2 (5.5 with Service Pack 2) is the latest release of the Kofax Transformation Modules product.

Please note: Prior to applying any Service Pack, Fix Pack, or Fix to your Kofax Transformation Modules 5.5 product, please be sure you have installed Kofax Transformation Modules 5.5.0 R2 or later . KTM 5.5.0 initial release installations cannot be upgraded with the current 5.5.1 Service Pack, Fix Packs, or Fixes. New KTM Professional Upgrade 3.5 Features

The following are the new features in Kofax Transformation Modules Professional Upgrade.

• Kofax Transformation – Project Planner

Project Planner is a configuration tool for managing document sets and creating powerful page classification and separation configurations. Project Planner allows users to import documents into a document set and automatically identify misclassified documents. Documents can be browsed and manually sorted into groups using drag and drop actions, or to save time, sorted using automatic classification technology.

Once a document set containing correctly classified documents has been created, a high quality page classification and separation configuration can be built. A subset of documents from the document set can then be exported and tested using the new configuration.

Project Planner continually assesses the “quality” of the class structure and automatically identifies documents placed in the wrong class, assisting the process of “cleaning up” the document set and improving the quality of the classifiers and separators.

• Learn-by-Example Document Separation

Traditional techniques for document separation are based on keywords and rules, and are dependent on correctly classifying each page in a sequence. Such an approach is difficult to configure and maintain if there are many documents types or the documents are inherently complex.

Kofax Transformation Modules Professional Upgrade uses a learn-by-example approach that trains on examples. This method of separation is robust because a confidence threshold can be set. Any results that fall below this threshold can be presented to a user for editing or confirmation using Kofax Transformation Modules – Document Review.
Document Review allows a skilled operator to identify and fix classification and separation problems with the help of automatic validation. In addition, Document Review ensures that any classification result that falls below a specified confidence threshold will be presented to a user for correction or confirmation before extraction is performed. This results in higher extraction rates and an overall greater level of automation.

• Kofax Transformation Modules – Document Separation Server

The Document Separation Server module performs page classification and separation on a batch of images. Each newly separated document is assigned a document type which can be used to determine the data extracted or validated in subsequent modules.
