3.5 Product Support Overview

VRS 4.2 is the most recent release of the VirtualReScan (VRS) product.

VRS 3.5 is the only release of VRS 3.x that is currently supported by Kofax Technical Support.

If you are currently using a registered copy of VRS 3.0, VRS 3.05, or VRS 3.1, you can upgrade your VRS product to VRS 3.5 at no charge. The VRS 3.5 program can be downloaded from VRS 3.5 Downloads page.

VRS 3.5 History

New VRS 3.5 certified scanners

• Kodak i620, i640, i660
• Böwe Bell & Howell 8000 Spectrum II (replaces original Spectrum but uses the same model numbers)

All VRS 3.1 component installer scanner are certified with VRS 3.5. These certified scanners are:

• Canon DR-6080, DR-9080C
• Kodak i80
• Fujitsu fi-5750C
• Panasonic KV-S7065C

New VRS 3.5 features

• Additional integration with Kodak i600 models
• PixKofax 2 barcode detection support for any ISIS application
• Böwe, Bell and Howell 8002 Spectrum feature support:
  • Supports automatic detection and processing of color documents
  • Allow users to switch to color based on the detection of color objects
  • Ability to switch to color based on detection of color objects
  • Ability to switch to color based on detection of photos
  • Set color output resolution independent of binary resolution

VRS 3.5 supported applications

VRS 3.5 supports all ImageControls-, ISIS-, and TWAIN-based applications. VRS is certified for use with wide range of ImageControls-developed applications including Kofax Ascent Capture. VRS 3.5 has also been tested and certified with the following ISIS & TWAIN applications:

• Adobe Acrobat 4.0
• Imaging for Windows (Standard and Professional)
• Pixel Translations PixView
• Pixel Translations PixTools
• Pixel Translations QuickScan Pro

If you don’t find your ISIS or TWAIN scan application in this list, it should still work. If you experience any issues with your application, contact us at vrs@kofax.com.

Previous VRS 3.x Releases

* VRS 3.5 it the only release of VRS 3.x that is currently supported by Kofax Technical Support.

• VRS 3.1 *
  The VRS 3.1 product was released on 01/24/04. It replaced the VRS 3.0 product release as the currently supported VRS release. The VRS 3.1 product is no longer supported by Kofax Technical Support. If you are currently using a registered copy of VRS 3.1, you can upgrade your VRS product to VRS 3.5 at no charge. The VRS 3.5 program can be downloaded from VRS 3.5 Product Downloads page.
