ACIS Dongle CountsUtility

A major investment company wanted to track the image count remaining on each remote Ascent Capture Internet Server scan station.

Solution: Professional Services was contracted to:

  • Create an NT Service to read the dongle count on each workstation.
  • Uploaded the value after synching the ACIS batches.
  • Create an Active Server Page to format all values into a specified data format.

Thumbnail Printing OCX

A service bureau needed to print out the images scanned as proof of service. They also wanted to print images in a specific batch or document as thumbnails for QC purposes.

Solution: Professional Services created a Print OCX to:

  • Print full images or thumbnails for a batch or document.
  • Annotate the printed images with the batch name, and page number per batch or document.
  • Allow the operator to choose how many thumbnails per page.

Auto Import of Electronic Purchase Orders

A major sporting goods manufacturer needed a way to get print files of purchase orders into their backend system.

Solution: Professional Services was contracted by the local reseller to:

  • Write an auto import module that would convert electronic purchase orders from PCL5 format into TIFFs and then import them into Ascent Capture.
  • Configure a batch class to pull PO data from each TIFF image.
  • Modify the Livelink release script to dynamically create folder levels based on the PO data.
  • Configure the system so it can run unattended at night.

Forms ID Consulting Package

A new ACR had configured the Ascent Capture system to recognize 100's of hospital forms but needed help improving the accuracy. They also wanted to reduce the time it took for their technical staff to configure each form.

Solution: Professional Services provided a package with 24 hours of consulting to:

  • Configure a batch class to recognize, with 99% accuracy, 5 multi-page, variable length forms.
  • Demonstrate and train the reseller's technical staff on the tricks and tools needed to configure Ascent Capture for high forms ID accuracy.
  • Assist the technical staff in adding additional forms to the batch.
  • They can now configure a form in 1/10 the time.

Ascent Capture Internet Server Installation

A trucking company wanted one scanning system for both domestic and overseas operations. They are starting with the domestic offices first, then want to expand to the overseas offices.

Solution: Professional Services was contracted by the local reseller to install ACIS:

  • The system was configured to use ACIS over a LAN implementation in the domestic office.
  • The system included 20 different batch classes.
  • The overseas stations are scheduled for installation later in the year.

A large financial institution needed to quickly replace their existing custom scanning system. The vendor was no longer able to support the system and they needed a new system up and running within a few weeks.

Solution: Professional Services provided the solution within 4 weeks by:

  • Performing an on-site needs analysis to assess the current systems functionality and limitations.
  • Programming custom database lookup object to improve the lookup speed.
  • Configuring a generalized batch class to include several database lookups and updating the backend system tables during index validation.
  • Performing installation on-site along with end user training.

Bates Numbering Custom Module

A legal firm needed to track the box and pages associated with all processed documents.

Solution: Professional Services created a custom module to:

  • Annotate a prefix value based on a prefix index field, which is filled with a batch field containing the box number for that batch.
  • Annotate a page value based on a start value index field, which is entered during index for each document.
  • Annotate both the prefix and page value in the lower right corner of the image.

Julian Date Endorsing

A large financial institution needed to pass a Julian Date to a scanner for endorsing, which allowed them to track the documents scanned on a specific day.

Solution: Professional Services created a custom module to:

  • Read the system date and convert it into a Julian date.
  • Store the Julian Date in a batch field that is passed to the scanner via an endorsing string.

Zipping the ASCII Release

A large service bureau needed to reduce the time spent formatting index data and images for uploading into their central repository.

Solution: Professional Services modified the standard ASCII release script so it would:

  • Group all documents by a specified index field
  • Zip all documents into files containing between 100 - 150 pages
  • Split the index file into separate files for each zipped image file
  • Specify the upload directory for the zipped files and index files

The release setup was tested for Win95, 98, NT and 2000.

Custom Recognition Script for Handwriting

A business partner needed to demonstrate Ascent using a recognition engine that could read handwriting as well as machine print and hand print.

Solution: Professional Services programmed and configured a batch class by:

  • Programming a COM object based on the Parascript recognition engine.
  • Programming a custom recognition script that called the COM object.
  • Configuring the Image Cleanup to get 95%+ in machine printed and hand printed zones.

Custom Multivalue Release

A payables department needed to assign multiple invoice numbers to each check image.

Solution: Professional Services created a custom Multivalue COM object and ODBC Release script that:

  • Allow the index person to select multiple invoice numbers from a database for each document containing an image of the check.
  • Store the data temporarily in a multivalue table
  • Release the standard index data along with the multiple invoice numbers for each document. The check image is not duplicated, only the check image path is duplicated along with the standard index data for each invoice number.
