Industry View Points
Companies large and small recognize the benefits of streamlining accounts payable (AP) processes. Automating – or even eliminating – paper invoice processing can speed up approval, prevent manual key entry errors, facilitate accurate accounting entries, and often has the added benefit of ensuring that the same process is adhered to from region to region and department to department. Electronic AP processes further increase efficiency and decrease payment costs.

Yet the benefits of electronification realized thus far have been relatively modest. New research from IAPP-TAWPI indicates that invoicing and business payments remain stubbornly paper-centric. There are a number of contributing factors, including limited budget for back office automation, IT complexity, and last but not least, supplier reluctance to submit invoices electronically. In this presentation, IAPP-TAWPI Vice President of Research Mark Brousseau will share data on the state of the AP automation, barriers to electronification, the implications of paper-based processes, and an outlook for AP automation.

  • Benchmark pricing and operating metrics from both in-house and commercial capture service providers,
  • Techniques and approaches to building a business case for increased automation,
  • An interactive tool for capturing and modeling the financial impact of automation, and
